The 4th National Sodium Battery Symposium was held in Wuhan on October 13-14. According to the 'Weekly Briefing' on the website of the Wuhan Investment Promotion Bureau, a signing and industry cooperation ceremony for HiNa Battery took place during the symposium: HiNa Battery (Wuhan) Technology Co., Ltd. signed an agreement with Jiangxia District to build a 10 GWh sodium-ion battery production line, with Phase I planned at 3 GWh of cell capacity — described in the official release as currently the world's largest sodium-ion battery cell production line. Construction is scheduled to begin in early 2027, with production targeted within 2027.
Concurrently, HiNa Battery completed concentrated signings across five directions: commercial vehicle applications, new-type energy storage systems, overseas market expansion, bank-enterprise strategic cooperation, and key material supply chain coordination. The commercial vehicle side includes Sany Heavy Truck and Dongfeng Commercial Vehicle; the storage side includes China Datang, China Three Gorges and China Southern Power Grid; the overseas side covers several international brands; and the supply chain side covers electrolyte and cathode material suppliers.
Public records show HiNa Battery relocated from Beijing to Wuhan on September 29, 2026, renaming itself HiNa Battery (Wuhan) Technology Co., Ltd.; in late March 2026, the Wuhan Tangxun Lake Sodium-ion Battery Research Institute settled in Jiangxia, forming a layout of research institute, headquarters and production base. Its mass-produced cells reach up to 165 Wh/kg in energy density per media reports. The project is currently at the signing stage: the early-2027 construction start is a plan, and both the 10 GWh total and the 3 GWh Phase I are planned capacity with no actual output yet; the 10 GWh plan is an upward revision from the previously disclosed 2 GWh line plan.
